PARK and STRIDE

It is all go in Inverness city centre right now!

Park and StrideBuilding developments are underway to create new flats and shop units, empty shops are being re-fitted soon to open with new operations, and major properties are undergoing external refurbishment.  In addition to these private sector activities, Scottish Water has started to renew the water mains.  Over 1000 metres of century old cast iron mains pipe under the old town streets is being replaced with modern tough plastic pipe to provide more reliable supplies and better quality drinking water.  These works are being carried out just ahead of the 90 week and £6m City Centre Streetscape Programme to reduce the risk of bursts and the need to dig up the new look street surfaces for many years to come.

Post Office LaneAn Inverness Councillor recently likened Inverness City Centre to a war zone, however, the current level of combined private and public sector investment should be seen more as a positive sign of the high degree of business and community confidence in our city's future.

With the number and variety of activities going on there will inevitably be occasions when temporary road closures or suspension of on-street parking are necessary. These will be kept to a minimum but are necessary, so it makes sense to use the ample car parking facilities within a few minutes of the city centre and visit the area on foot.
