Housing above City Centre ShopsThe Inverness City housing market remains buoyant with a range of continuing and new developments, mainly on the city’s outskirts. Inverness City Partnership believes there is scope for encouraging greater city living through affordable city centre housing by developing redundant spaces and the upper floors of older buildings. This would deliver additional benefits in tidying up parts of the city centre and increasing footfall. Further research is under way. The initiative also offers a possible link to the RIAS Convention to be held in Inverness in 2007 and the RIAS wish to design a competition on the theme of sustainable housing principles.New housing development
